Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that uses laser light to remove unwanted hair. The laser works by sending energy into the pigment of the hair shaft, which is absorbed by the surrounding follicle. The heat generated by this process damages the follicle and stops hair production.
The CoolTouch™ Varia Laser is one of the lasers Aesthetic Laser Center & Medi-Spa uses for hair removal. It has a longer wavelength (1064 nm) allowing patients with darker skin tones to be safely treated for permanent hair reduction.
The Varia also has pulsed cooling and patented thermal quenching that creates a soothing effect while protecting the skin’s surface allowing for a safer, more comfortable treatment. There is no downtime and you can immediately get back to your normal day’s activities following treatment.
Hair grows in cycles and laser hair removal is most effective treating hair that is in its active growth phase. Since only a percentage of your hair is in the active phase at any point in time, multiple treatments are needed for most effective results.
Effective Vein Treatment
The CoolTouch™ Varia is also used for laser treatment of spider veins. It has a longer wave length (1064 nm), allowing us to treat larger and deeper leg veins. It is also effective in treating red veins on your nose or face.
The CoolTouch™ Varia has a range of spot sizes, pulse widths and power making it effective in treating veins of various sizes. Both small veins or telangiectasias (0.1mm) and larger, reticular veins (up to 2-3mm) can be treated with the CoolTouch™ Varia laser.
The number of treatments needed can vary based on a variety of factors including the size and depth of the vein.
In treating veins, the CoolTouch™ Varia laser can be used as the primary treatment of veins or as an adjunct treatment to injection sclerotherapy.
